Our Commitment
ArogyaRelief is built to serve everyone who needs it — including people in rural areas, people with limited literacy, and people using the platform under the stress of an active emergency. Accessibility is not an add-on for us; it directly determines whether the platform can do its job when it matters most.
What We've Built
- Multilingual support, including English, Assamese, Bengali, and
Bodo at launch, with district-based language detection and a manual override you can change at any time.
- Read-aloud support on key screens using text-to-speech, for users
who may struggle with reading in any language.
- Icon-and-text design — every action pairs a visual icon with text,
never icon-only, so meaning doesn't depend on literacy alone.
- Simplified, low-literacy-friendly navigation on the victim-facing
"Find Help Near Me" experience — large tap targets, minimal nested menus, and direct actions (Call, Get Directions) instead of requiring interaction with a complex map interface.
- A persistent SOS/Emergency Call option, always reachable regardless
of where you are in the platform.
- Real emergency phone numbers (108, 100, 101, 1070, NDRF) available
without needing to sign in, as a non-digital fallback.
Ongoing Work
We do not yet claim full conformance with any specific accessibility standard (such as WCAG 2.1 AA), and we are actively working to improve coverage across screen readers, color contrast, keyboard navigation, and additional regional languages beyond our initial four.
Reporting an Accessibility Issue
If you experience difficulty using any part of ArogyaRelief due to a disability, literacy barrier, or language gap, please tell us — this directly shapes what we prioritize fixing.
